I used an overlay blending mode on the wreath (top layer) with full opacity and then for the pinecone I used a soft light blending mode with 46% opacity (2nd layer). I put the type on 3rd layer at normal but with 68% opacity. I also had an additional wreath photo on the bottom (original pic) layer and left it alone.

Sunset and Clouds. 5/1/2011. Rexburg, ID. 8;43pm. f/13; 1/125.
I had the bird and branch image on top layer with lighten mode and 53% opacity. The layer beneath it was the sunset clouds image and I did nothing to it. I also had an additional image of the bird and branch at the bottom layer as normal. There were many blending modes that would have went nicely with this but I chose this because of the colors in the clouds. I wanted the branch image to be more dominant but the more opacity I had the less colors from the clouds was shown.
I really like what you did with the blending and the type effect on the christmas one. It was nice how you kept with the christmas theme by blending the two "christmas" shots. It looks very cool all though I would like to have seen the type stand out a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteI agree that I really like your Christmas shot. I like how the opacity of the second image seems to be just right on top of the first. I do agree with the Katrina that the image would've been perfect if the type was just a bit darker then it is now. Good work.
